Hatrick Laskey!!!

Yateley 3-0 Haselmere

Yateley Men’s 2XI were fired up in preparation for this friendly fixture against a close league rival. After last week’s effort and grit showed Yateley’s potential it was very much about continuing the hard work and pushing for that desirable first win of the season! Yateley rocked up early for short corner practice and a solid warm up, showing that although it was a friendly, we meant business.

We kept to the tactics and high intensity from the previous week, dominating the first 10mins with flair, creativity and waves of attacks. It was only a matter of time before Yateley drew first blood, with Mark Laskey strolling into the box and reverse striking the ball into the back of the net after latching on from a beautiful pass from Jake Morgan.

Yateley piled on the pressure, only allowing Haslemere to aerial their way out of trouble. Eventually Haslemere crafted some chances of their own after holding off a bombardment of Yateley attacks, with a wave of 3 consecutive short corners, converting one and drawing the scores level just before the break. Yateley feeling a little hard done by, dug deep and pulled up their socks.

The game was open then for the following 15 mins with both sides carving beautiful chances but couldn’t take the advantage. The ball was picked up in the middle of the pitch and passed beautifully out to Captain Philip Cundy who proceeded to drive fast down the wing. With a few movements of the ball, he brushed of 2 tacklers and struck the ball into the D. Mark Laskey trapped the ball and rocked another sweet reverse strike past the Haslemere keeper. Keeping faith and working hard had paid off and the game then got so much easier. Yateley stepped up the gears and swamped Haslemere with more flair and chances a plenty. Yateley’s barricading was too much too handle for Haslemere, with Lee Creswell finding an open Mark Laskey alone in the area. With a simple touch and strike, he pushed the ball passed the keeper for his hattrick!

Yateley defended well in the remaining 5 minutes to secure a well fought victory, giving them plenty of positives going into the final friendly game next weekend.
Once again all the youngsters that made the step up to the men’s 2XI played fantastically well.

Congratulations go to joint men of the match; Hatrick Hero Mark Laskey and Defensive Rock Dan Bilton.
