Safeguarding and protecting young people

We at Yateley Hockey club take the safeguarding, welfare and protection of our young players very seriously. As an affiliated member of England Hockey, the sports governing body, we are obliged to ensure that all young people who play our sport have a safe and positive experience.

To this end:

• We have adopted England Hockey's Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Hockey Policy;
• We are committed to complying with best practice that may from time to time be issued by England Hockey;
• We are committed to ensuring that best practice is followed in all matters relating to young people;
• We are committed to ensuring a duty of care to all Club members by adopting and implementing the England Hockey's Equity Policy.

Everyone has the right to feel safe and enjoy playing hockey. If you are concerned about poor practice or any form of abuse against young people, please contact Club Welfare Officer Roger Bilton 07711 485328

Other useful contacts are Childline (08001111) and NSPCC (0800800500).
Any serious immediate concerns should be reported to the police.

Copies EHB's Proud to Protect literature is available from all junior coaches and Welfare Officers

Further Information about recognising and responding to concerns, and appropriate reporting procedures can be found here http://www.englandhockey.co.uk/page.asp?section=1169&sectionTitle=Proud+to+Protect
